SYNTAX
About us
Whether you review your team’s work or your own, Syntax brings partner-level tax knowledge into preparation. It systematically reviews every client, every year, helping you identify and resolve issues before final review. That means a more consistent process, better-prepared jobs and less to put right - freeing up capacity in your practice.
BETTER PREPARED JOBS. WHOEVER PREPARES THEM.
1. Start with the job you’re preparing
Upload your draft documents. Connect Xero, QuickBooks or FreeAgent and add the draft accounts, tax computation and return, plus last year’s documents where available.
2. Pick up issues and put things right
Syntax systematically checks your drafts against the bookkeeping and last year’s information. Preparers follow the same process: work through review points with supporting figures and explanations, resolve issues and flag what needs the reviewer’s decision. After changes, upload revised drafts and rerun the checks.
3. Review a better-prepared job
See what’s been checked, the explanations recorded and what still needs your decision. Complete final review with a record of who prepared, reviewed and signed off. Your firm’s branded client letter is already drafted - with financial commentary, tax to pay, deadlines and selected review explanations. Edit, approve and send.
QUESTIONS BEFORE YOU GET STARTED
My tax software already checks the return. What does Syntax add?
Syntax checks across the job. For company reviews, it compares draft accounts, the tax computation and return with the bookkeeping and last year’s information - each review point includes supporting figures and an explanation
We already use ChatGPT or Claude. Why use Syntax?
ChatGPT and Claude can produce different answers to the same input. They can also produce convincing answers that are wrong. Syntax’s core tax checks use defined rules written by tax specialists - not an AI-generated "tax opinion.' The same facts, checked against the same version of the rules, produce the same result. That gives your team a repeatable checking process, with supporting figures and explanations—not just an answer that sounds right. You retain the final decision.
Will this create more work for my team?
The aim is fewer jobs going back to the preparer - not another round of checking. For company jobs, connect your bookkeeping, upload the drafts and confirm the period and mappings. We can help with your first review so you can judge the total effort.
Can every preparer follow the same checking process?
Yes. Syntax gives preparers a consistent way to check their work before senior review. They can work through review points, resolve issues and flag what needs your decision, with supporting figures and explanations. You get a record of what has been done, whoever prepared the job.
How do I know the review points are right?
Each review point comes with supporting figures and an explanation. Syntax also tells you when missing information prevents a check from running. You can assess the point, challenge it and record your decision - rather than take the software’s word for it.
Do I still need to review and sign off?
Yes - you decide whether the job is ready. Syntax runs the systematic checks first, showing which have passed and which points need attention. Your review starts with those results and your team’s recorded decisions. You make the final call and approve the work.
How do I know it will be worth paying for?
Review 3 clients free. Start with a completed job you know well. Compare the review points, total time involved and drafted client letter with your usual process. Judge the value on your own jobs.
