About us
Link My Books automates e-commerce bookkeeping for Xero and QuickBooks Online.
Marketplace settlements are difficult to account for. A single Amazon or TikTok Shop payout can contain hundreds of orders, refunds, referral and fulfilment fees, shipping charges, promotional adjustments and reserve movements, netted down to one figure in the bank. Different lines within the same payout can carry different tax treatments, and marketplace-facilitated VAT means the platform has already accounted for the tax on some sales but not others. Reconciling that manually takes hours per client per month, and errors in tax treatment often surface months later.
Link My Books connects to Amazon, Shopify, eBay, Etsy, TikTok Shop, Temu, WooCommerce, Square and Walmart, and posts each payout to Xero or QuickBooks as a summary invoice that reconciles exactly to the bank deposit. Sales, refunds, fees and taxes are broken out separately and mapped to the accounts and tax rates you specify.
Tax treatment
Support for UK VAT, GST and US sales tax, including marketplace-facilitated sales, zero-rated and reduced-rate goods. VAT product grouping lets you assign the correct rate at product level, so mixed-rate catalogues are handled without manual adjustment.
Beyond reconciliation
Cost of goods sold is recognised as inventory sells, giving an accurate gross margin without a separate inventory system. Profit and loss can be viewed by sales channel, so clients can see which channels are actually making money once fees and returns are accounted for.
Setup and historical data
A guided wizard walks through account and tax rate mapping at the point of connection. Most accounts are live within about fifteen minutes, and historical payouts can be pulled back up to two years where prior periods need correcting.
For accounting practices
Around 1,000 accounting and bookkeeping firms use Link My Books across their e-commerce client base. The partner programme provides a single dashboard covering all clients, streamlined onboarding, and the choice of billing clients directly or bundling them into one practice subscription with volume pricing. Partners are also listed in our directory, which receives enquiries from businesses looking for an e-commerce specialist. Practices report saving over 10 hours per client each month.
Support that knows the accounting
Straightforward questions get an immediate answer, at any hour. Anything more involved goes to a qualified accountant or bookkeeper on our team — people who work with marketplace settlement data every day. When a settlement won't balance, when Amazon has applied the wrong product tax code, or when you're unsure how a particular transaction type should be treated, you get an answer from someone who understands both the software and the accounting behind it. It's the thing customers mention most often in reviews, and it's a common reason firms move to us from other tools.
