About us

Charterpath turns financial skills into social impact by connecting finance professionals, charities and employers.

Charterpath is a UK charity with a big ambition: to increase the proportion of finance professionals volunteering their skills from 10% to 50%.

We believe financial skills can have an enormous impact beyond the day job. Strong financial management, governance and oversight help charities become more resilient, make better decisions and focus their resources on achieving their missions. At the same time, volunteering gives finance professionals the opportunity to use their skills in a completely different environment, build new experience and make a tangible social impact.

That is where Charterpath comes in.

We inspire finance professionals at every stage of their careers to understand the difference their skills can make; connect charities with the volunteer financial expertise they need; and work with employers, professional bodies and others across the finance sector to make volunteering a normal part of a finance career.

More than 3,000 finance professionals have now joined the Charterpath community, contributing tens of thousands of hours of financial expertise to charities across the UK.

For finance professionals, Charterpath provides a free volunteer jobs board alongside practical training, resources, events and support. Opportunities range from becoming a Finance Trustee or Treasurer to supporting a charity with a specific finance project, acting as an Independent Examiner or using your expertise in another voluntary role.

You don’t need to be a CFO or have years of charity experience to make a difference. There are opportunities for people at different stages of their careers, with different amounts of time to give.

For charities, Charterpath provides access to a growing and diverse community of finance professionals who actively want to use their skills for social impact. We help charities find volunteers for governance, financial oversight and practical finance support – strengthening their organisations and helping them become more financially sustainable.

We also work with employers and professional bodies to help them engage their people and members in skills-based volunteering. Done well, volunteering is a genuine win:win:win: charities gain expertise they might otherwise struggle to access; finance professionals develop skills, experience and purpose; and employers can engage and develop their people while contributing to a stronger charity sector.

At a time when AI and technology are rapidly changing the finance profession, we think there is an exciting opportunity to think more broadly about where financial skills can have an impact.

Whether you’re a finance professional curious about volunteering, a charity looking for financial expertise, or an employer wanting to mobilise your finance team, come and meet Charterpath at the Digital Accountancy Show.
